EREC was funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, to deliver a project which provided advice, information, referrals and signposting (but not casework support) to individuals experiencing discrimination or harassment in relation to their age, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, gender and human rights.
The project also worked in partnership with Enfield Citizens Advice Bureau to empower and build good relations between diverse communities through training workshops for community advisors on the equalities and human rights legislation (age, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, gender and human rights). As well as co-ordinating meetings of an ‘Advisors Network’ to share information and good practice.
Under the discrimination legislation (disability, age, gender, religion or belief, sexual orientation or race ) you have rights to equal treatment in different settings, such as when you are learning or training , working or looking for work , or accessing services like health and social care , transport or housing.
Human rights are incorporated into UK law, and give you rights and freedoms that might not be covered by discrimination legislation.
